“They were exhausted and so ready for a better life!”

Wandering a logging road near Lake Trask in Mason County, Washington, a family of dogs recently found themselves in desperate need of safety.
“They were out in the rain, shivering and trying to find cover wherever they could,” the Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC) wrote in a Facebook post.
When local animal control officials heard about the pups, they got in touch with a volunteer from the humane society and an experienced dog trapper. The pair set up multiple traps with tempting bait inside, enticing the pups to come over.
The two puppies, Parker and Petey, were caught relatively swiftly. But their mom, Laila, proved trickier to catch. Eventually, after switching the bait to something even more tasty, hungry Laila realized she couldn’t resist.
“After 20 hours, with volunteers keeping vigilance all day and night, mom and babies were finally secured!” the humane society wrote in the post. “They were exhausted and so ready for a better life!”
Finally out of the woods, the dogs settled into a life of care. According to a representative from the HSMC, all of these pups are currently in “loving foster homes.”
Now, all these dogs have to worry about is recovering and finding perfect families. Parker already has an adopter lined up. Laila and Petey will be available for adoption soon.
“These little ones are fed and dry and able to decompress, getting all the love they deserve,” the humane society wrote.
