Cyclist sees a deserted dog with a plastic bag in its mouth, what’s inside sends shivers down his spine
While cycling in Lincolnshire, 58-year-old Paul Skinner spotted something moving in a ditch. He stopped and discovered a weak, abandoned cocker spaniel holding a plastic bag in her mouth.
Inside the bag were four newborn puppies — all tragically dead.
Paul immediately called an animal rescue group. Though help came quickly, it was too late to save the pups, who were likely just born and may have died from the cold.
The mother, later named Carly, had been left to fend for herself with her dead puppies. A microchip traced her only to the original breeder, not the owner responsible.
Despite her loss, Carly’s loyalty and heartbreak touched everyone. Now safe in a shelter, she’ll never suffer again.
Carly’s story is a powerful reminder of an animal’s capacity to love — and the importance of speaking up against cruelty.
